Chodesh Tov!
ב”ה August 19, 2020 Tonight is Rosh Chodesh Elul, a time of internal reflection, as the last month in the Hebrew calendar encourages us to prepare for the new year. This is also the month when families begin preparing for the start of a new school year. It is not an easy time in any year – as we are called on to make all sorts of changes to our routines – but this year more than ever, Elul asks a lot of us in terms of preparation. And yet, Elul’s demands are so timely, especially this year. We need to change our ways of life and ways of thinking, but the changes Elul asks of us are not drastic changes; rather, we make change gradually, incrementally. Everything is in the distinct details – and we at AHS are working on all the distinct details that will set us up for success this coming school year. We pay attention to all the distinct details to best prepare for facing big challenges. We will take the month of Elul as a preface to the year, making thoughtful steps of preparation and change now, in order to arrive at a meaningful and joyful year. I want to wish everyone a month of finding meaning in the distinct experiences of our everyday lives and an appreciation for where we are at despite the challenges. May we return to a routine that, no matter how different it seems, holds a bounty of blessing for us all. Chodesh Tov! |
