Navigating Back-to-School
With the start of school just a few days away, we are all excitedly preparing for our safe and healthy return to school!
Students have experienced an extended time away from the classroom and school, and we would like to share some resources that may be helpful as you and your children transition. We have included articles written by professionals offering back-to-school tips during this unprecedented time, student-friendly e-books about Covid-19, and videos that will convince your children that the practice of proper mask and hand hygiene will turn them into superheroes!
We encourage you to take the time to discuss the importance of these topics with your children prior to their return to the classroom, and to please share these resources with them.
BACK TO SCHOOL TRANSITION TIPS
This article was written by Janet Arnold and discusses how to prepare children to return to school during Covid-19.
This article was recently written by Dr. Dana Abenstein, who is both a doctor and a mother. The article and accompanying slide deck were written in response to a number of questions she had been receiving regarding parent and student anxieties around returning to school.
COVID-19 CHILDREN’S E-BOOKS
The Emory Global Health Institute hosted a competition for interested writers and illustrators to create an e-book providing children (ages 6-9) with age appropriate Covid-19 information. The winning book, and runner-ups, are all featured on this website in PDF format.
MASK AND HAND HYGIENE:
Below are links to short child-friendly videos about masks, spreading germs, and hand hygiene:
How to stop the spread of germs?
LumaOne created an online interactive game which shows how germs can be spread and how to properly wash hands.
Looking forward to a safe and fun school year filled with learning!
